Pancakes pomme/cannelle (vegan)

Delicieux :)

Hey guys ! It’s been a really long time, but to be fair, I’ve been teaching English to teenagers and teenagers are hard work, and so is teaching. Done with the excuses, here’s a brand new collab I did with one of my best friends Mélissa Mary.

Talented photographer Jean Fotso featured us in his AFROWOMAN series which celebrates the beauty of black women in the African Diaspora, and the results are beautiful! Special shout-out to make-up artist Christine Merveille for doing a wonderful job :)

BE YOUR OWN HERO collection by Laure Art

If you haven’t heard of Laure Art, then now is the time for you to get to know her. She is a talented fashion designer with a vision for the African Diaspora. When we went out to lunch, Laure explained to me that by revamping her brand, she wanted each of her pieces to tell a story. Laure’s F/W17 collection Be Your Own Hero is a series of colorful and vibrant wax print clothing. She also told me that there is an entire background story behind each outfit. She wants every woman to feel confident, beautiful and important when they’re wearing her pieces.

Vintage meets Modern: I styled Adé I

I’m sure that some of you may remember the Partagez le Secret‘s Beauty & Tasty event that I attended last year. I recently collaborated with PLS founder Adé I and we created something AWESOME !

We decided to film a vlog together (coming soon!), documenting our fashionable day. The best part? I got to style Adé I and myself for the photoshoot. But first, we headed to Cutty’s Hair Design salon at 72 Boulevard des Brotteaux, in Lyon. Claire did our hair and make-up, and she did a great job !

RoseGal Wishlist // Summer Sales !

Hey guys ! I hope you’ve all rested well and you’re ready for September. I start my teaching career tomorrow, and I’m super excited ! One of the things that I like to do before I start a new school year (whether I’m a student or a teacher), is to get a few basics and indispensables (must-haves) as the French would call it.

Rosegal is another online store that sells cute clothes and accessories for really low prices. And if you’re looking for the perfect outfit to end the summer with, how about Rosegal? They have pink flower dresses, stylish palazzo pants and asymmetric skirts that are totally in!

So if you want new clothes, why not take a look over here? The Summer Sales are still ongoing, and EVERYTHING is 33% off. Use my code RGEN for another 10% off!

Here are some of my favorite Rosegal pieces:

Jewellassy // Wraps, Chokers and Corset belts

If you know me, then you know that I love anything that has to do with African fashion. My friend Massy is from Côte d’Ivoire and she makes stunning jewelry, headwraps and corset belts, using colorful wax prints from the mother land. My personal favorite is the dashiki print wrap.

You can purchase all of these on Massy’s e-boutique: !

Strobing with Raihane + OOTD

Hey guys ! I’ve been pretty lucky these past few weeks because I got to collaborate with so many talented people. Recently, I met make-up artist and Youtuber Raihane, and we decided to do a video for her Youtube channel (it’ll be up soon) !

I kinda knew Raihane already, because I was already friends with her older sister. But what I didn’t know, is that I already saw her in this hilarious video by Solfa: Korean Girls Get Western Make-up. Raihane is the make-up artist behind the Korean girls’ looks in this video, and she did an incredible job!

So Raihane wanted to try out the “strobing” technique on me. I didn’t even know what it was, and kept calling it “stroboscope” (don’t ask why), but now that I know what it is, I love it! According to PopSugar, strobing “focuses exclusively on highlighter, applied where light would naturally hit your face (so, your cheekbones, brow bones, the center of your forehead, down your nose, and on your chin)”.

Because my make-up was going to be all about strobing, highlighting and shimmery glitter, I decided to go for a more minimal and classic outfit.

I paired a plain black bodysuit from Pull & Bear with striped wide-legged pants from Bershka and platform sandals from H&M.

Yes, I’m wearing a gold choker on my arm. I really needed a chunky arm cuff, so I just tightened this choker from PrettyLittleThings, and voilà!

These bold but minimal earrings are from ZAFUL. They’re my absolute favorite pair of earrings to wear this summer!

Here’s another cute golden bracelet from Women’s Beauty by N., paired with a white mini purse and a vintage brown scarf tied on it.

Make sure you head over to Raihane’s Youtube channel and subscribe!!! She gives amazing make-up tips, she vlogs and she’s hilarious. Our collab video will be up very soon (I’ll repost it on Breakfast with the Beatles as well) so stay tuned!

Jeunes et inspirants #1 : Zahra Louise-Julie

by the Green Mousse

Bleu, Blanc, Rouge

Hey guys! Welcome to another What I Wore This Week post, where I feature an outfit I wore during the week, the occasion and how I styled it.

Last Saturday night, I got to hang out with my sister Safiya and my beautiful friends in the city of Lyon. Since Safiya just moved to France, I’ve been showing her the ropes of how to do the French Apéro, which is a fancy way of saying pre-drinking. Except, we do it the French and sophisticated way: we have a glass of wine (rosé or sweet white wine if it’s summer, and red wine when it’s winter) accompanied by a variety of cheese and dry sausage.

Then we met with my talented friend Tatiana Vergnaud, who is also a photographer, and we had a cocktail each. After that, we met up with more friends at Ninkasi, a hot spot for delicious burgers and beer. After feeding ourselves, we finally got to the town center and had the most decadent pink milkshake cocktail at the L Bar. By pacing yourself on Saturday night, and making sure you’ve eaten, you won’t end up drunk by the end of the night, and even better, you won’t wake up with a hangover !

Event: Apéro & Bar-hopping with friends

This is one of my favorite tops to wear: I got it on sale at Zara (bae for life) and it’s a wrap-tie shirt. I love the elegance of having a bow hanging from the side of this shirt, and I especially like the off-the-shoulder look. I chose this blue-striped one because I felt like the blue would make a great contrast with my skin (there was baby pink, sky blue, navy blue and white).

I’ve had these white lace shorts from Stradivarius for three years, and they still haven’t gone out of style. Stradivarius is one of my favorite stores, but they closed down in Lyon unfortunately. These shorts are perfect for when it’s too hot to wear denim. They’re casual enough to wear during the day, and lacy enough to wear in the evening. These Nike huarache sneakers are the perfect balance to an otherwise formal outfit.

I love wearing color these days, so I got out my red leather purse that a Tuareg friend from Niger gave me. Just look how it matches my Colourpop lipstick ! And I don’t know if you recognize these gold earrings I got from Zaful for less than $4, but they are the minimalist touch to any outfit you can think of.

And recognize these sunglasses from Rose Carbone ? I love to wear them on any occasion, and even though I wore them for about 30 minutes (the sun set soon after this photoshoot), I felt so glamourous. Can you tell ?
